15A - Irish Red Ale

Style: 15A - Irish Red Ale

First shot at Irish Red, but I've done so many English Bitters this wasn't too different. This latest batch of Maris Otter has been much lower than expected in efficiency. I had expected this to come out around 4.5-5% ABV but it only made it to 3.9%. Not a problem as the style guide starts at 3.8% and it tastes good.

Also using this as a Scottish Export which is essentially the same recipe with MO, c120, and pale chocolate for color.

Full recipe is on brewersfriend but here's the TL;DR
  • Brewed: 2018-1-21
  • Malts: Maris Otter base, 3% crystal 120, 3% pale chocolate malt
  • Hops: Nugget (FWH bittering), Cascade (late flavor addition)
  • Yeast: SafAle S-04 (English Ale)
  • Efficiency: 65%
  • Kegged: 2018-2-2
  • OG: 1.041, FG: 1.011, ABV: 3.9%
